The Anxiety Treatment Center of Austin takes referrals from other providers for patients who would benefit from targeted treatment of anxiety disorders. We treat adults with primary anxiety diagnoses with or without comorbid conditions. Commonly referrals fall into the following categories:
Evaluation and Treatment Referrals
Patients who are not in treatment for psychiatric or neurological disorders but for whom clinically-significant anxiety has been identified by a primary provider. The Anxiety Treatment Center of Austin will conduct an initial evaluation of the patient to determine the significance of the anxiety symptoms and the appropriateness of a course of treatment. If indicated, targeted treatment (individual and/or groups) can proceed at the Anxiety Treatment Center of Austin. Referral to the Anxiety Treatment Center of Austin allows you to meet the specialized needs of your patients.
Concurrent Treatment Referrals
Patients who are receiving treatment for psychiatric or neurological disorders who also present with significant symptoms of anxiety or a comorbid anxiety disorder may be accepted for treatment. Patients will remain in treatment with their current provider for the initial presenting problem, and receive treatment focussed on their anxiety at the Anxiety Treatment Center of Austin. We can coordinate with the primary provider for treatment planning and updates on the course of treatment.
Continuum of Care Referrals
Patients who are receiving treatment for an anxiety disorder from another provider, who will transfer their care to the Anxiety Treatment Center of Austin. Common reasons for continuum of care referrals include the need for more intensive and focussed anxiety treatment, cessation of current provider’s services (e.g., the current provider is moving or retiring), or patient preference (e.g., the patient has requested to see a different provider). We will work with the current provider to smoothly transition the patient to the Anxiety Treatment Center of Austin. Please note that we do not accept patients on discharge from inpatient hospitalization. If targeted anxiety treatment is warranted as a part of hospital aftercare, the patient’s outpatient clinician should make a concurrent care referral.
In any case, we value to input and information from a patient’s referring provider. If you are are interested in referring a patient to the Anxiety Treatment Center of Austin, please contact us.
