HANNAH ADAMS, PH.D.
LICENSED PSYCHOLOGIST
SHE/HER

I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas. I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kansas. My training emphasized evidence-based psychotherapy across a wide domain of mental health concerns. My clinical work has focused on the treatment of anxiety disorders, PTSD, and OCD. I further developed my clinical skills during an anxietyfocused doctoral internship in New York, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin, where I received advanced training in exposure therapy.
My work has been with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, OCD, and related concerns, and I have a particular interest in helping clients who feel stuck in cycles of avoidance, worry, perfectionism, or self-doubt. My therapeutic approach draws primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I strive to create a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel understood while also being supported in making meaningful changes.
My Treatment Philosophy
I believe that effective therapy involves both feeling understood and accepted while learning new
ways of responding to difficult thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Anxiety can often lead us to
organize our lives around avoiding discomfort, even when those strategies move us further away
from the life we want. My goal is to help clients understand the patterns that perpetuate anxiety
and develop the skills and confidence to approach what matters to them.
For clients working through anxiety or OCD, this may involve gradually facing feared situations
through exposure and learning to respond differently to uncertainty, intrusive thoughts, and
uncomfortable emotions. I also incorporate values-based work to help clients identify what is
most important to them and build a life that is not dictated by anxiety. Throughout treatment, I
aim to balance compassion and acceptance with the encouragement to take meaningful steps
outside of your comfort zone.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and I work closely with each client to develop goals
and an approach that fits their individual needs. My hope is that clients leave therapy not only
with a better understanding of anxiety, but with greater confidence in their ability to handle
difficult experiences and move toward the life they want.
