I am an Austin native. I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin and completed my formal clinical training at the University of Texas Counseling and Mental Health Center. I work with the full range of anxiety disorders including specific phobias, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Panic Disorder. I recognize that anxiety does not always fit into neat labels. I am committed to helping you with your anxiety, in whatever form it takes. I have particular experience and interest treating health anxiety and public speaking fears. I value multiculturalism and diversity and am an affirming therapist who enjoys working with a wide range of clients. In addition to working with adults, I have interest in working with children.
My Treatment Philosophy
We all experience anxiety. Anxiety is helpful in many ways, motivating us to meet our goals and avoid harm. Sometimes, however, our anxiety starts to take over. When this happens, we often feel overwhelmed and “stuck”. It is in these moments that I offer support and tools so that you can manage your anxiety and live the life you desire. In my work, I combine evidence-based treatments such as Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with my personal therapeutic style, which is warm, collaborative and relational. I believe I am especially effective with my clients because they trust me to guide them through what can often be difficult new experiences in therapy. In addition to helping you decrease the anxiety you experience, I will also work with you to gain understanding as to the sources of your anxiety.
Every client is unique and I am committed to working with you to find the approach that will be most helpful. My goal is to empower you with tools to continue your own healing process. I want to help you feel like your best, most whole self.
